Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a watermark to a PDF online?
Upload your PDF file, type your watermark text, adjust the settings (font size, color, opacity, rotation), select which pages to watermark, and click download. The entire process happens in your browser.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. All PDF processing happens locally in your browser using the pdf-lib library. Your document never leaves your device and is never stored on any server.
Can I watermark specific pages only?
Yes. You can choose to watermark all pages, only the first page, or a custom page range (e.g., '1-3, 5, 8'). This is useful for watermarking cover pages or specific sections.
Will the watermark affect the PDF text or links?
No. The watermark is drawn as an overlay on each page. Existing text, links, form fields, and other PDF elements remain fully functional.
What types of PDF files are supported?
Most standard PDF files are supported. Password-protected or heavily encrypted PDFs may not load. If you encounter issues, try removing the password first.
Can I use a diagonal watermark on my PDF?
Yes. Use the rotation slider to set any angle from -180° to 180°. A -45° angle creates the classic diagonal watermark commonly used for 'DRAFT' or 'CONFIDENTIAL' stamps.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no hard file size limit, but very large PDFs (over 50MB) may be slow to process in the browser. For best performance, we recommend files under 20MB.
Can I remove the watermark after adding it?
No. Once watermarked, the text becomes part of the PDF content. Always keep your original unwatermarked PDF as a backup.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes, the PDF watermark tool is completely free with no limits on file size or page count. No signup or account is required.
What browsers work with this tool?
This tool works in all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend using the latest browser version for the best experience.
